AP® Physics 1 MCQ Practice Tests

These are multiple-choice question (MCQ) practice tests to help you prepare for the 2027 AP® Physics 1 exam. Solutions for each question are provided below each test. You can take these practice tests any time, but it's generally recommended that you work through the practice problems in this course first and take these practice tests closer to the AP® exam.

These exams consist of the AP®-Style Questions included throughout this course, but they are in random order and split up into tests so you can practice solving them without knowing which topic applies to each question.

How do these practice tests compare to the AP exam?

Most students have said these practice tests are very similar or slightly harder than the actual AP exam, and that the format is very similar. They also noted that the AP Classroom MCQs are harder than the AP exam.

Instructions:

  • Section I of the exam consists of 42 multiple-choice questions.
  • Time allowed for Section I: 85 minutes.
  • There are four answer options (A-D) for each question, select only one answer for each question.
  • Your score is based on the number of questions answered correctly. No points are deducted for incorrect or unanswered questions.
  • You can use the AP Physics 1 equation sheet, a calculator and paper for doing work.
  • These practice tests use 10 m/s² for g. On the AP® Physics 1 exam you can use 10 m/s² or 9.8 m/s² for g.
  • Solutions are provided below each test. After the time is up, score your test and then read through the solutions for the questions you answered incorrectly and review those topics in the course if needed.
  • You can use your MCQ score along with an FRQ score to estimate your AP exam score.
