Physics doesn't have to be hard

If you feel like you’re bad at physics, you’re not alone. A lot of students find it difficult and they think it’s their fault, but the problem is usually the way physics is taught. This course is here to help.

Taking a physics class?
If you feel like your teacher doesn’t teach well, you’re confused in class or you struggle when solving problems, you can use this course to…
  • Fill in gaps after class and reinforce what you learned
  • Learn material that your teacher didn’t cover in class
  • Review a concept or a whole unit when studying for your next test
All resources in one place

Don’t waste time looking for YouTube channels and practice problems. This course has everything you need in one place so you can quickly find videos or problems for each topic.

Master every topic

Topics build on each other so don’t fall behind. If your teacher moves quickly or skips important concepts, take as much time as you need to master each topic on your own.

Cheaper than a tutor

Before you spend time and money on a tutor, you might be surprised by how much you can learn on your own when physics is explained in a way that’s easy to understand.

Learning physics on your own?
If you want to learn physics on your own you can use this course to...
  • Learn high school physics at your own pace
  • Develop a deep understanding of physics, don't just memorize equations
  • Be prepared for future classes or exams that require knowledge in physics
Everything you need

Lessons, study guides, practice problems with solutions and more. This course has everything you need to learn the material on your own — no textbook, other resources or tutoring needed.

Stay on track

Time management can be hard, especially if you're self-studying a subject. You can work through the course at your own pace and use the included pacing guide to make sure you’re staying on track.

Ask questions and get help

If you have any questions, head over to the Discord server and get help from the course instructor and other students who are learning physics on their own. You can also email the instructor any time.

Reviews from other students and parents 💬

"I was attempting to learn physics and I was really struggling. Finally I restarted from the beginning and bought Physics Lab. I watched all of the lesson videos, and suddenly I had a better understanding and was able to get through more lessons. Physics Lab was able to help me understand the fundamentals. And from there, everything got easier."

“This course is not only affordable but it also teaches in a very engaging way. I learned so much compared to my physics class. Its a great way for anyone to start learning physics from the start.”

Kayleb D.

"This is a great resource to use for studying. Use it to enhance or to fully build your understanding of physics and you will not be disappointed."

“I cannot say how much we appreciated your website. Everything is so organized, well-planned and loaded with valuable information. Because the teacher at the school was new and lacked experience in teaching physics, our daughters seemed so lost and brought home very poor grades... Outcome: A average in physics."

    FAQ
What curriculum does this course cover?

This course covers algebra-based mechanics (no calculus). The topics include kinematics (motion), forces, Newton’s laws, torque, rotation, centripetal force, orbits, energy, work, power, momentum, simple harmonic motion, waves, and fluids.

What are the prerequisites for this course?

No prior physics knowledge is required to use this course. You should be comfortable with algebra (rearranging and solving equations for unknown variables). It may help to know some basic trigonometry (sin, cos and tan) but that’s covered in the Basics section of the course and explained again when ever it comes up.

How do I use this course as a supplemental resource if I’m already taking a physics class?

The course is organized so you can easily review the resources you want for a specific topic, you don’t have to use the full course or go in order. You can use the course to review material that you learned in class so you understand it better, learn any material that your teacher didn’t cover, reference the concepts and equations when doing homework, and review material when studying for a test.

How do I use this course if I’m self-studying?

This is a complete, self-paced course that anyone can use to learn high school physics. Use the included pacing guide to create a custom schedule and stay on track throughout the year. Then you can just follow the course in order and work through each topic page from top to bottom. If you have any questions you can always get help from the course instructor and other students in the Discord server, or you can email the instructor if you prefer.

Do I need any other resources or materials in addition to this course?

You will need something to work through problems and take notes if you like (notebook and pen, tablet, etc.) or you can print out the practice problems and work on them directly. You will also need a scientific calculator (that has things like sin/cos/tan) or you can use an online calculator like Wolfram Alpha. Other than that this course is designed to cover everything, no textbook or other resources needed. If you need 1-on-1 help you can always chat with the course instructor on Discord or over email.

When should I start? Is it too late if I’m halfway through the year?

The earlier the better, but you can use this course at any point in the year, even the night before your final exam. The course is organized so you can easily review the resources you want for a specific topic. You can use the course to get a head start before your class begins, use alongside your class or self-study all year, or review for your final exam.

What if I don’t need a full course, just some resources for a specific topic?

All of the material is organized so you can easily find videos, practice problems and other resources for a specific topic whenever you want. You don’t have to use the full course or follow the curriculum in order.

How much time do I need to spend on the course? Is it self-paced?

The course is self-paced and includes a pacing guide to help you plan things out and stay on track. If you watch every video and do every practice problem over a 9-month school year you might spend about 2-3 hours per week on the course. If you just want to review a topic, you could just spend 30 minutes watching a video and reviewing a study guide.

What if I have a question or need help?

If you have a question while watching a video, get stuck on a practice problem or need help with anything else, head over to the Physics Lab Discord server. You can ask questions and get help from the course instructor and other students, or just chat about physics whenever you want. If you prefer 1-on-1 help you can also send the instructor a direct message or an email at chris@physicslab.app.

How does this compare to a textbook or other resources like Khan Academy and YouTube videos?

There are a lot of physics resources online but for some reason none of them seem to include everything you need or explain things clearly enough for everyone to understand. That’s why Physics Lab was created. A lot of time and effort goes into producing the Physics Lab content so that the concepts are easy to learn. The videos and study guides include a lot of visuals so things are easier to understand. And it keeps getting better over time! Once you upload a YouTube video you can't change it, and most courses aren't really updated after they're created. All Physics Lab content is continuously updated and improved based on questions and feedback from students. This course also comes with a Discord server where students can chat with the instructor and other students when they need help.

Can I purchase the course for someone else?

Yes, if you’re purchasing a course that someone else will be using, you can select “Send as a gift” during checkout and include the email that you want to send it to. That person will receive an email to create an account for free.

What is the refund policy for this course?

If you’re not happy with the course you can receive a full refund for the lifetime access option within 30 days of purchase. Refunds are not available for the monthly subscription.
