SI Units & Unit Conversion
You wake up one morning and the weather forecast says today will be 70°. If you're in the US, that means you won't need a jacket. If you're anywhere else, that means you won't survive very long. Units are important.
A unit is a way to define a specific amount of something: 1 meter is an exact amount of length, 1 second is an exact amount of time, 1 kilogram is an exact amount of mass, and so on.
Why is it so important that we keep track of our units? Well for one, you might end up putting the wrong answer on a test. But we'll talk about the time NASA lost a $193 million spacecraft just from messing up their units.
Also, what makes the SI Units so special? We'll learn what they are and why we use them.
And how do you go from grams to kilograms? Or from rpm to rad/s? We'll cover how to convert between units using a method called dimensional analysis.
